Music

Not long after the turn of the millenium a friend of mine called me up and told me he bought a set of turntables. It was nothing that had ever interested me and I thought it might have been a doomed exploration into an artform that had no substance. But I love the guy and would hang out with him no matter what the occasion. That day set the course for the next decade of my life.

He showed me a way of interacting with the world that allowed me to speak of things that words would only complicate. Moody cinematics became long conversations, gritty blues samples became honest eye contact, and deep sensual basslines became my personal lexicon. I didn’t have those words anyway, and I still don’t, so have a listen if you like…
